"He flits from shop to shop just like a butterfly.

In matters of the cloth he is as fickle as can be,

cause hes a dedicated follower of fashion.

Hes a dedicated follower of fashion.

Hes a dedicated follower of fashion."

--The Kinks - Dedicated follower of Fashion.

A top song, no?

In recent times it seems that the very industry that has been duping women for over a century, with promises of flawless beauty, wrinkle free skin, and manifestos on this seasons most required trends is now targeting young blokes on an ever increasing scale.

"Hi, I'm Tiger Woods, and after 18 holes on the course I like to use Gillette enhancement skin cream to fight the signs of aging."

And they're falling for it, by the shedloads! It's an interesting and confusing time to be a *Cough* young man. Gone are the strict heterosexual rules dedicated to exchanging betting and allotment tips, to instead be replaced by Meterosexual rules exchanging grooming and style tips.

Are traditionally expected masculine identities being challenged? Can we hug our sisters and rid the world of patriarchy through the shared purchasing of fragrances and designer labels? Fat chance!

The whole male identity isn't being challenged, just recommodified. We are the man that the institutions and industries tell us we are, or allow us to be.
